A comparative study of both the campaigns:
Trump’s Slogan in the first term, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN: a slogan that had a widespread effect. This was the first commercially popular slogan used for saving a country, in that year, castigating and blaming others of damaging the country all over the world and yes its superiority.
Imran Khan: His slogan in modern Pakistan was and is the most popular statement made to believe that all others who committed corruption are from the fallen creed and the only one who could save the country is Imran khan. His slogan was Tabdeeli arahi hai (change is coming), which was later changed to “Tabdeeli aa nahi rahi, tabdeeli agai hai” literally means Change is not coming but has arrived.
From there the number of similarities pointed underneath had my eye brows raised.
- Trump accused Russia of meddling in the affairs of the country, but later backtracked.
- Imran accused the USA of meddling in the affairs of the country, and later backtracked.
- Trump accuses the Deep State in the USA of targeting him.
- Imran accuses the Establishment (Deep State) in Pakistan of targeting him.
- Both the men target their opponents with ugly names.
- Both portray an image of a strong character or individual.
- Both are celebrated for their before joining the political antics’.
- Both went with Anti-Corruption slogans and narratives.
- Both talked about Political dynasties and how these dynasties have destroyed their respective country.
- Both talked about Nationalistic Politics.
- Both garnered support from the Social Media or its users.
- Both were given a Savior outlook.
- Both leaders have a cult following which had stormed National buildings, a show of power.
- Both have talked about ending the wars and it’s being useless.
- Both now have talked about Foreign Policy.
- Both are contesting for the highest seat in the country.
- Both have slogans quite similar for the second-term elections. Imran Khan had Ghulami Namanzoor, (No servitude of the Deep State and outside interference), and said no to the Imported Government and now Trump has come up with the Save America (from the Deep State and other inside players damaging it) slogan.
- Both have talked about resolving issues between countries e.g. Russia with Ukraine by Donald Trump and Iran with Saudi Arabia by Imran Khan.
- Another similarity arose when Donald Trump was Fired at in a Presidential candidate event or rally.
Similarly in the aftermath, both have survived an assassination attempt.
These above similarities are from their election (political) campaigns which are quite uncanny as if both have similar advisors for the campaign; no project could go to this extent of coincidences but theirs.
Now similarities in the time of government, which again are not too much but shed a light on the affect they could have on their respective campaigns.
- Both are strong-headed and have their own opinions.
- Both had a difficult outing in the government, Khan was ousted by Vote of No Confidence and Trump was acquitted from the Impeachment Twice.
- Both have got cases against them.
- Both have seen the gallows.
- Both have fired the Intelligence Chiefs.
I do not know how all of this is happening. But when I see the Political campaign strategies of both individuals I can easily see a Hero or Savior campaign, which as a result portrays a person with strong character in a way that he could be seen as a Savior. At the same time, some villains or villainous acts around could easily be managed that would result in more faithful followers or sympathizers.
