UNFORGETTABLE 16 December-APS Attack; The Day When Everything in Peshawar Stopped

16 December APS Attack, when everything in Peshawar stopped

LIFE IN PESHAWAR

The city was cloaked in dust and pollution, yet the people of the city still lived life to its fullest. The circumstances echoed with explosions, transforming into the screams and cries of loved ones, shaking everyone to their core. The silence carried a haunting fear that unsettled hearts. Yet amidst it all, each day brought a ray of hope, heralded by the radiant smiles of loved ones. No morning remained entirely bleak; rather, these moments of hardship only strengthened hearts further.

Memories of Survival In Peshawar

These are the memories of those days—prayers of parents for their children, supplications of wives for their husbands’ safety, verses of Ayat-ul-Kursi recited for the protection of their wives or family members, and the haunting truth of fathers who left home for work with a fear of never to return alive. Amidst these realities, there was the growing resilience of a child forced to mature prematurely, the habit of checking on relatives with trembling voices after hearing loud sounds, and the helplessness of disrupted phone signals turning into overwhelming anxieties. This was the essence of life in that city. Yet despite all this, there was an indomitable spirit—the obsession with living freely, the courage to face fear, the resolve to risk one’s life, dreams of prosperity and progress, the strength to nurture love—all of it. Despite everything, this city carried on.

The Spirit of Innocence In Peshawar

Even in such times, life found its way. Children’s laughter never faded, their eagerness to go to school and meet friends remained undiminished. Relationships with books ebbed and flowed, and their innocent joy at earning a star sticker from their teacher stayed intact. Even a teacher’s displeasure, and the punishment that came with it, became something to smile about and share with friends. Each day breathed new life into them, and with these little anchors of joy, time passed, and life moved forward.

APS ATTACK: The Day Everything In Peshawar Stopped

And then, one day, it all stopped. The city became desolate, flowers were torn from the gardens, smiles turned into tears, and time came to a standstill. Peshawar was no longer Peshawar. But even in the face of such cruelty, our children, our future, became immortal against the wishes of those who sought to extinguish them.
